Storytelling is an ancient art, but it is not present in many early childhood centres and preschools. I would like to change it by promoting oral storytelling as a tradition and a teaching strategy.

Hattie and the fox
It has repetition, animal characters, it’s cumulative story and it has a happy ending, at least for Hattie 🙂
Walking through the jungle circle time action song
An oral story + song with felt animals is a great way to introduce circle-time action songs for young children. They love circle time action songs!
“Walking Through the Jungle”
This song and activity will keep your children fully engaged during circle time as they embark on an imaginative adventure! Begin by gathering the children in a circle and say enthusiastically, “Today, we’re going on a pretend journey through the jungle! Can you hear the rustling leaves and the sounds of animals? What animals might we see?” Use this opportunity to spark their curiosity and invite them to share their ideas about jungles.
Walking through the jungle,
What do you see?
I see a lion roaring at me…
Walking through the jungle,
What do you see?
I see a monkey laughing with me…
Walking through the jungle,
What do you see?
I see a big-eyed frog croaking at me…
Walking through the jungle,
What do you see?
I see a tortoise smiling at me…
Try it and let me know how you go!
Circle time action songs like these make learning fun.
